The Council of Human Service Providers formed the Diversity Committee to establish the definition of a culturally competent system and a framework for action to assist The Council, Providers and State Agencies in attaining cultural competency and linguistic proficiency in the human service delivery system. Based on recommendations from The Council membership and the Board of Directors, the Diversity Committee was formed comprised of members of the Council as well as non-members, State Agencies, and community representatives.
